Meg Tilly

Meg Tilly (born 14 February 1960) is an American-born actress, dancer, and author, notable for her innocent face and youthful voice. She is the younger sister of actress Jennifer Tilly, and they have another sister, Rebecca Tilly.

Tilly was born Margaret Chan in Long Beach, California, USA and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to a Chinese-American businessman father and an Anglo schoolteacher. (Tilly is her mother's maiden name)

As a teen, she was involved with the Connecticut Ballet Company, as well as the Throne Dance Theatre, and made her screen debut with Alan Parker's Fame in 1980. A back injury forced her to give up dance, and she entered the field of acting, appearing in Hill Street Blues, The Big Chill, and Psycho II before appearing in Agnes of God, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for her searing performance. Afterwards, she was cast for Amadeus, but was replaced after tearing a ligament in her leg the day before shooting started. She later appeared in Valmont, Girl in a Swing, and Leaving Normal. She has also written a novel titled Singing Songs.

Tilly has been married twice and has three children. Her first marriage, which ended in 1989, was to film producer Tim Zinnemann, with whom she had two children. She went on to have a child with British actor Colin Firth in 1990, but they did not marry. Her second husband was John Calley, the former president of Sony Pictures. They divorced on February 2, 2002.

Tilly has not appeared in a movie in any capacity since 1995, having decided to retire after marrying Calley to raise her children.
