Located on West 42nd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues), one of the two blocks that also house the Port Authority Bus Terminal, the McGraw-Hill Building has been the tallest building for decades in the Clinton neighborhood which locals commonly refer as the Hell's Kitchen for decades. It only lost its tallest status recently some even taller skyskcrapers have been built in the Times Square area. Today, despite it is still visible from a distance, it's not the tallest building on the block since a 58-story tall residential building will be soon completed.
