McAllen, Texas


 

McAllen is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 106,414. The city is across the U.S.-Mexico border (marked here by the Rio Grande or Río Bravo) from the city of Reynosa in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. McAllen is a fast growing city in the United States and the cost of living is the lowest of any metropolitan area in the United States.
