Mazeppa (Tchaikovsky)
Mazeppa (Mazepa in transliteration) in an opera in three acts by Pyotr Tchaikovsky to a Russian libretto by Victor Burenin, based on Pushkin's poem Poltava. The composer revised the libretto, and Vasily Kandaurov contributed the text for Mazeppa's Act II insert aria. It was first performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 1884.
