Maxine Brown


 

Maxine Brown (born April 27, 1932 in Campti, Louisiana) is an American country music singer who was a member of the successful singing group, The Browns.

While still a toddler, her family moved to a farm near Sparkman, Arkansas. Encouraged by her parents, she began singing and performing at local venues. As a singing duet with her younger brother Jim Ed Brown (b. 1934), she signed a record contract in 1954. Baby sister Bonnie Brown (b. 1937) joined them in 1955 and they went on to become a highly successful and respected group and members of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee until disbanding in 1967.
