Maundy
The annual distribution of alms to the poor by the Sovereign of England has evolved over time into the maundy service of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. A quantity of specially-minted coins, known as Maundy Money, is distributed to equal numbers of men and women, equal to the age of the Sovereign. This is organised by the Maundy Office of the Royal Household, and recipients are now chosen as a report for community and Church service.
