Matt Gallant

Matt Gallant (b. 1969-06-25) is a popular television host. He is well known as the former host the Emmy award winning The Planet's Funniest Animals on Animal Planet. He has also been one the guest judges on various other television shows featuring animals and pets. He has also acted in Good Burger (1997) as a reporter, and has played co-host to Xbox Live: Launch Party, and Game On (2002).

Early career

Matt studied in the University of Rhode Island in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. He was involved in sports in the university but couldn't participate in the cross country event because of a knee problem. In his senior year, he got to be the head of the sports department. He also used to broadcast university basketball and American football games. Matt, a communications major also studied theatre and later did an internship at Channel 6 in Providence, Rhode Island.

After graduating, he moved to New York where he became a page at NBC and filled audiences for shows such as Late Night with David Letterman. He then took the services of an agent who managed to get him odd roles in television ads and soaps. He then moved on to Los Angeles where he auditioned for a couple of small roles initially. He later hosted a few shows such as X-Treme Energy. In 1999, he auditioned for the The Planet?s Funniest Animals. Despite the audition not going well for him, he managed to secure the role.

Gallant is currently active in childrens' organizations such as the Make a Wish Foundation where he helps out and spends time with them.
