Mason is a city located in southwestern Warren County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the fast-growing city had a total population of 22,016 and is the most populous in the county. Until February 1997, it was within Deerfield Township.

Demographics

As of the census{{GR|2}} of 2000, there are 22,016 people, 7,789 households, and 5,981 families residing in the city. The population density is 482.7/km² (1,250.0/mi²). There are 8,111 housing units at an average density of 177.8/km² (460.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.79% White, 1.61% African American, 0.19% Native American, 2.18% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 0.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.27.

The Mason City School district has received many Blue Ribbons. William Mason High School is home to the first competitive high school broomball league in the US. The WMHS Wind Symphony was invited in 2004 to perform at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, recognized as the most prestigious high school concert band performance in the world.
