Martlesham Heath Airfield
Martlesham Heath Airfield was first used by the Royal Flying Corps in January 1917.

During its 46 year life, it saw Bristol Blenheims, Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires from the RAF, and was home to Commanding Office of 242 Squadron, Squadron Leader Douglas Bader. The airfield was closed in 1963 and was redeveloped as Martlesham Heath Village in the 1970s.
