Martha Mitchell

Martha Mitchell was born Martha Elizabeth Beall on September 2, 1918, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; she was the socialite wife of former U.S. Attorney General John N. Mitchell.

During the Watergate Scandal years she was outspoken regarding President Richard M. Nixon, and she openly went against Nixon during this scandal.

However, because of this, she was cruelly discredited and even abandoned by her family. Nixon aides even leaked to the press that she had a "drinking problem".

She later died of a rare bone cancer on May 31, 1976 at the age of 57.
