Mark Malloch Brown


 

Mark Malloch Brown (born 1953), a British official, is chief of staff to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, appointed 3 January 2005. He is a former journalist, economist and communications consultant.

As the administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) since 1999, Malloch Brown ranked No 3 in the UN system. He is also the Chair of the United Nations Development Group. He was a vice-president and external affairs spokesman for the World Bank from 1994 until 1999, and had worked earlier for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
