Mark Day

Mark Day (born October 4th, 1978 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada) is a Canadian actor of Scottish, French and Irish descent. He grew up in Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where he graduated from Strait Area Education and Recreation Center and pursued his love for acting at a very young age. At the age of 14, Mark was offered a job at the local Radio station (CIGO) 1015 The Hawk as an on-air announcer, one of the youngest to ever work behind the microphone. It was throughout high school, that Mark discovered his love of filmmaking and acting. Following high school Mark studied in the Acadia University Theatre Program before making his feature film debut as a rugged young fisherman in Kirsten Dunst?s ?Deeply? (2000). The young actor also caught the attention of director Rod Holcomb who casted Day in Sissy Spacek?s ?Songs In Ordinary Time? (2000). Day then played a young American Sailor in ?A Glimpse of Hell? the film based on a true story starring James Caan. Other film roles followed, including the pivotal part as a young Priest in Agnieszka Holland?s ?Julie Walking Home? (2001), starring Miranda Otto from ?War of the Worlds and Lord of The Rings?. He also appeared opposite Michelle Williams in ?A Hole In One? (2003). He went on to star in the short film Boyclops, which screened at the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival. Day?s other film credits include: Heartstoppers and Don?t, Don?t Break Up With Megan. He has also made numerous television appearances, most notably a recurring role on the critically praised Showcase comedy ?It?s me Gerald?. Day just recently completed filming a lead role on a new CBC Pilot called Cheap Draft set to air in early 2006.
