Marina del Rey, California
Marina del Rey is a census-designated place and seaside town located in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 8,176.
Geography
Marina del Rey is located at 33°58'46" North, 118°27'10" West (33.979361, -118.452912){{GR|1}}. It is located just south of Venice and just north of Playa del Rey and the Ballona Creek. Venice actually extends north and south just west of Marina del Rey up to the north edge of the entrance channel. Just south of the entrance channel lies Playa del Rey. Marina del Rey is completely surrounded on all sides by the City of Los Angeles, a section of which, while in L.A. City proper, identifies itself as "Marina del Rey," in association with the unincorporated, census-designated section of L.A. County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²). 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 40.14% water.
