Maria (song)

"Maria" is track number 1 from the 1999 album No Exit by Blondie. This song was a comeback song: the first release from the band since "War Child" in July 1982. It was also the first U.K. number 1 for the band since "The Tide Is High" in November 1980. The song was written by Jimmy Destri, who has also penned some of their earlier hits, like "Atomic". To this date this is the last single to reach number 1 from the band. The single was released as a 2 C.D set, the first containing remixes of "Maria", and the second contained album track "Screaming Skin" and a live version of "In the Flesh". The song reached number 1 in February 1999.
