~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Fu reached the final of the 1998 Grand Prix, the same year as turning professional; he subsequently rose dramatically through the rankings, reaching number 15 in the world for the 2000/01 season. Tipped for the very top, Fu's subsequent performance was disappointing, and he started to slide down the rankings again.
