Manuelito

Manuelito was one of the principle chiefs of the Navajo people during the Long Walk Period. He was a resistance leader who fought federal efforts to appropriate Navajo territory and remove the Navajo people to New Mexico. He was one of the signatories to the Treaty of 1868, which provided for the return of the Navajo people from Bosque Redondo and established the original boundaries of the Navajo reservation.
