MAN AG is a German manufacturer (engineering works) and marketer of commercial vehicles, industrial services, printing systems, diesel and gas engines, and turbomachines.

The company was founded in 1908 through the merger of Maschinenfabrik Augsburg and Maschinenfabrik N?rnberg, to form the Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-N?rnberg. Rudolf Diesel got a prototype for the compression ignition engine functional in early 1897 while working at a Maschinenfabrik Augsburg plant at Augsburg, Germany. In 1986 it changed its name to MAN AG. It operates worldwide under the name MAN Group.

MAN's coach operations merged with German coach builder Neoplan in 2001 to become the third largest manufacturer in Europe.

In 2004 MAN had ?15 billion in sales (revenues), and over 61,000 people.
