Mamie Eva Keith

Mamie Eva Keith was the oldest recognized person in the world from February 21, 1986 until September 20, 1986. Mamie was born March 22, 1873 and lived in Illinois, USA. She succeeded Shigechiyo Izumi of Japan (June 29, 1865?-February 21, 1986) and was included in the Guinness Book of Records 1987 edition. Mamie was the last person to become "world's oldest" at a mere 112 years of age, having been a month shy of 113 in February 1986. Despite other claims to be older, 19 years of research has failed to identify anyone older whose age can be verified.
