Mallcore
Mallcore is a derogatory term used for nu metal, metalcore, and occasionally other forms of music by those who are fans of "true" heavy metal music. The term is supposed to mean that the music is only modestly unsuited to be heard in a shopping mall as opposed to the more aggressive "true" bands, or that it is marketed to mall-going teenagers. It also refers to mall-going teenagers, especially those who shop at Hot Topic. When used in this way it refers to them as being "mall-core" as opposed to "hard-core."

Roadrunner Records have often been called a "mallcore" record label since their current artist catalog presents many nu-metal or hardcore/metalcore bands as opposed to the death metal and speed metal they started with in the 1980's as "Roadracer Records". Thus, veteran listeners dismiss the company as appealing to the "mall crowd", or "mallgoths". Another common reference to "mallcore" is "popcore"
