Maleficent is considered the classic Disney villain: imposing, serious, terrifying, and lacking any of the occasional goofiness seen in some later Disney villians. She had a range of magical powers, the most impressive of which was turning into a fierce European dragon in a cloud of billowing green flames.

Through a deep and commanding voice Maleficent is heard, echoing throughout the halls of her castle. Of the four fairies who appear in Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent is the most powerful. She mostly worked through her pet raven, Diablo, and her goons, making orders and brooding. Animated by Marc Davis, and voiced by Eleanor Audley (who also voiced Lady Tremaine, stepmother of Cinderella), her beauty and evil prowess will arguably be treasured by fans for a long time to come.
