Malcolm Reynolds

Malcolm Reynolds is a character in the science fiction television series Firefly, played by actor Nathan Fillion. In the series, Reynolds is the captain of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity. He was brought up on a ranch on the planet Shadow. Later he volunteered for the Independent Faction and fought in the Unification War against the Alliance, in which time he gained the rank of sergeant. His loyal second-in-command Zoë was under his command at this time, and fought with him at the pivotal Battle of Serenity Valley. After the overwhelming defeat of the Independents he traveled to the more primitive distant planets, where he acquired his own ship. He is very protective of his crew.
