Major Payne
Major Payne was a 1995 film, starring Damon Wayans. The film was a loose remake of the 1955 film The Private War of Major Benson, starring Charlton Heston.

In the film, Wayans plays decorated war hero Benson Winifred Payne, who falls out of good graces in the modern military, as his fighting tactics are no longer needed; his honorable discharge was on the grounds that "the wars of the world are no longer fought on the battlefield."

Unable to function in any other capacity, he applies for a job at a local military academy and becomes the head instructor for their JROTC program. He is rough on the kids, who despise him. Later in the film, however, it becomes evident that he taught the kids a strong work ethic and a sense of teamwork when they compete in a statewide "military game" against a rival school.

Payne woos the school nurse (played by Karyn Parsons), and is eventually asked to come back to the Marines to fight in Bosnia. His conflicting feelings about his old and new professions are the catalyst for the film's finale.
