Madras, Oregon
Madras is a city located in Jefferson County, Oregon. Originally called The Basin after the circular valley the city is located in, Madras reportedly was named in 1903 for the cotton fabric, and not the former name of a city in India. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,078. It is the county seat of Jefferson County{{GR|6}}.

Madras is located at 44°37'50" North, 121°7'45" West (44.630536, -121.129128){{GR|1}}.
