M?con is a commune of France, pr?fecture (capital) of the Sa?ne-et-Loire d?partement, in the Bourgogne r?gion. Population: 36,068.

M?con was aquired by the French Crown in 1238, passed to Burgundy by the Treaty of Arras in 1435 and was recovered by France in 1477. M?con was a Huguenot stronghold in the 16th century.
