Maaseik is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1 2005 Maaseik had a total population of 23,564. The total area is 76.91 km² which gives a population density of 306.37 inhabitants per km².

Maaseik is thought to be the birthplace of the brothers Jan and Hubert van Eyck.
