Luke Halpin

Luke Halpin (b. 4 April 1947) was an American teen idol in the 1960s and star of the highly successful television series Flipper. Born in New York, Luke was encouraged to pursue acting by a teacher who believed his all-American looks made him a natural. After a few minor roles he successfully auditioned for the 1961 movie Flipper, released in 1963. The film was a huge success, and a less successful sequel followed in 1964, Flipper's New Adventure. Beginning in 1964, Flipper ran as a television series until 1968, with Luke playing the 15-year-old Sandy Ricks, and Brian Kelly as his father Porter Ricks. After the series was cancelled, Luke tried to continue acting but found parts harder to come by, and as of 2005 is working as a pilot and marine technician for a film production company.
