Luciano Burti
Luciano Burti was a Formula One driver from Brazil. He participated in 15 grands prix, debuting on July 16, 2000, at the Austrian Grand Prix, as a replacement for the injured Eddie Irvine. Having tested consistently well for Jaguar in the 2000 Formula One season, he was promoted to full-time race driver alongside Irvine in 2001, replacing Johnny Herbert. However, after just four races, he left to join the Prost team as a replacement for the disappointing Argentine, Gaston Mazzacane and his own vacated seat was taken up by Spanish pilot Pedro de la Rosa. Burti raced well for Prost, out-qualifying his very much more experienced team-mate, Jean Alesi, on several occasions, and also recorded his highest finish - eighth place - at the Canadian Grand Prix. However, a horror crash at the Belgian Grand Prix later on in the year saw him having to sit out the rest of the season and his seat was taken by Czech rookie Tomas Enge. He subsequently signed to test for the Ferrari team, but that came to an end with the expiry of his contact in 2004. Over the course of his Formula One career, he scored 0 championship points.
