LPGA
LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association. Both terms are most frequently used to refer to an American organization, which is called simply the Ladies Professional Golf Association as it was the first such body to be founded. There are several other LPGA's in the world, each of which has a geographical designation in its name. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The American LPGA is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers which runs from February to November each year, but it is also represents female club and teaching professionals, who account for the majority of its membership. This is different from the position in U.S. men's professional golf, where the PGA Tour which runs the main men's professional tours in the U.S. is independent of the club and teaching professionals organsation, the PGA of America. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
