Louis Leroy
Louis Leroy was a French journalist and art critic for the French satirical newspaper Le Charivari, who coined the term "impressionism" in an attempt to denigrate the painters of the art movement of his time. (Leroy described Pissarro's pictures as "palette scrapings"). The term was taken from Claude Monet's painting "Impression: soleil levant".

The term would be adopted by artistic revolutionaries like Cezanne and Monet, long outlast Leroy's own reputation, and become the name of one of the most influential art movements in history.
