Los Angeles Avengers


 

The Los Angeles Avengers is an Arena Football League team based in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center, also currently home to the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. The team began play in the 2000 season. The Avengers compete in the Western Division of the American Conference.

The Avengers are owned by Casey Wasserman, the grandchild of the late MCA head Lew Wasserman.

On April 10th, 2005, Avengers defensive lineman Al Lucas was injured attempting to make a tackle and later died at a nearby hospital. It is the only fatality in the history of the Arena Football League.

So far, they've been to the playoffs once in 2005 as the #2 seed of the American Conference, but they ended up losing in Round 1 to the #3 seed Chicago Rush 52-45.
