Lord's Taverners
The Lord's Taverners is an English charity dedicated to the promotion of cricket among young people. The name of the organization derives from its origins; in 1950, a group of cricket-loving actors who regularly met at the Tavern pub in Lord's to enjoy the day's cricket founded the Taverners club. The club's roster of present and former members is a veritable Who's Who of the English social and cultural scene.

These days, it is an officially accredited charity organization that raises funds to promote improved sports facilities and greater participation among young people, particularly those with disabilities or special needs. The Taverners also administers the "Brian Johnston Memorial Trust".

The Lady Taverners is the ladies' branch of the club. It was established to maintain the tradition of granting honorary membership to the sitting Prime Minister; Margaret Thatcher had been elected premier in 1979 and the Lady Taverners were duly formed, with Mrs Thatcher as its first honorary member.
