It was formed in 1965 from the Middlesex borough of Harrow. The Middlesex borough was a municipal borough, promoted from an urban district on the 4 May 1954. The 50th anniversary of the promotion was celebrated by Harrow in April 2004, which included a visit to Harrow by Queen Elizabeth II.
