The first was founded by Tom Morello, later of Rage Against The Machine fame. Lock Up released one album on Geffen Records (Something Bitchin' This Way Comes) in 1989 before they broke up. The title of the album was based on Ray Bradbury's 1962 novel Something Wicked This Way Comes. Brad Wilk, also of Rage Against The Machine, once auditioned for Lock Up.

The second was a death metal band created by bassist Shane Embury (Napalm Death), with Peter Tagtgren (Hypocrisy_(band)) on vocals, Jesse Pintado (also from Napalm Death) on guitar, and Nicolas Barker (ex-Cradle_of_Filth, ex-Dimmu Borgir) on drums. They released Pleasures Pave Sewers in 1999, and Hate Breeds Suffering in 2002, with the new vocalist Tomas Lindberg (ex-At the Gates).
