Ljungby Municipality
Ljungby Municipality is a Municipality in Kronoberg County, in southern Sweden where the town Ljungby (pop. 14,500; loc {{coor dm|56|49|N|13|55|E}}) is seat.
History
Ljungby traces its not so interesting history back to the Viking Age. Vikings follow the river Lagan and lived in its vincinity, and one of the locations were in the Ljungby municipality.

In the 14th century several important medieval roads went through the municipality. In that century, an inn was established , and this was to form the center of Ljungby city.

In the 19th century the area closest to the city itself consisted mostly of sand without any plants, and the government issued funds to plant trees which would tie together the sand and make it suitable for plants.

Ljungby received its rights as a merchant city in 1828, and in 1936 it got its charter.
