Liz Claman


 

Liz (Elizbeth Kate) Claman, (born December 12, 1963), is the anchor of the CNBC morning program Morning Call and of the CNBC newsmagazine program Cover to Cover. She also presents short business reports for local NBC stations. Previously, Claman was co-host of the program Wake-Up Call. She has also substituted for Brian Williams when his newscast appeared on CNBC.

Education and Career

Claman was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and grew up in the Beverly Hills section of Los Angeles. For her early education Claman went to Phillips Academy, where she was a disc jockey for the school radio station, and to Beverly Hills High School.

Claman has a bachelor of arts degree in French from the University of California at Berkeley and has a Certificat Supérieur de Français from the Sorbonne. She has retained her fluency in the language.

Claman started out as an assistant to Paula Zahn at the Los Angeles television station KCBS-TV. From there, she went on to on-the-air reporting job at WSYX-TV (Columbus, Ohio), a morning talk show at WEWS-TV (Cleveland), and a weekend anchor postion at WHDH-TV (Boston). In 1997 she started at CNBC then based in Fort Lee, New Jersey. (CNBC is now in Englewood Cliffs.)
