Lithonia, Georgia
Lithonia is a city located in DeKalb County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,187. "Lithonia" means "City of Granite."
Geography
Lithonia is in the heart of the Georgia granite district, hence the name of the town, from the Greek lithos, for stone. The nearby granite dome, Stone Mountain, is composed largely of a rock called Lithonia gniess.
