Literary magazine
A literary magazine is a periodical devoted to literature in a broad sense. Literary magazines usually publish short stories, poetry and essays along with literary criticism, book reviews, biographical profiles of authors, interviews, and letters. Literary magazines are often called literary journals, or little magazines, which is not meant as a pejorative but instead as a contrast with larger commercially oriented magazines. In general, literary magazines function as a sort of literary nursery for writers by publishing new works by authors who are not yet established or well known.

Room in Victorian flat in the Lower Haight available Nov. 1 (lower haight) $700
hello! Our wonderful roommate is moving out and we need someone to fill her space. We have a beautiful railroad Victorian flat, 4 bedrooms (though one of our roommates lives in a tiny converted pantry which technically counts as a "bedroom"). It's got a great living room and shared backyard and is centrally located on Fillmore a block from Haight Street (including 4 bars on our block, a laundromat, several restaurants, etc). It's a really charming flat and the neighborhood cannot be beat. The rent for the room is $700, which does not include utilities; a deposit is due at move in along with first month's rent (so total move in cost is $1400). The roommates: Paola: 23 year old student taking art classes at CCSF. Best damn nanny in the city. Is learning guitar. Smokes (both cigarettes and 420), will keep the cigarettes outside. Really intelligent and is kind of a badass (but has such a warm heart when you know her). Phil: 21 year old creative writing major at SFSU, music journalist, amateur electronic musician, editor of a literary magazine. Even though he does a bunch of art-related things, he's a closet sports fan. Doesn't smoke anything but enjoys a good beer (or several). Plays a lot of pool at bars. Jenn and Chris: 27 and 30, recently married and back from their honeymoon in Cuba. Both bartenders at separate restaurants. Chris is a Chargers fan, so on Sunday Phil+Chris like to have a weekly bro out watching football and drinking beer. Jenn is in school getting a psychology degree. When they cook, it's damn good. We get along very well - we hang out in the living room almost every day / night when people are around. We try to keep everything clean (everyone washes their dishes within 12-24 hours), keep cigarettes on the front stoop, etc., so the home is as relaxing as it is tight-knit and fun. If this sounds like a great fit for you, email us back and tell us why you'd like to live here. Something beyond the standard response - we're looking for people who will really fit in with our mix of roommates. Thanks for looking and best of luck!
