List of postal districts in the United Kingdom

This is a list of the post towns of the United Kingdom – sorted into postcode sequence.

Each town has one or more postal districts, for example PE2. These are also called postcode districts or outward codes. In rural areas a postal district may cover more than one post town. A group of postal districts with the same alphabetical prefix is called a postal area, for example YO.

The Royal Mail recommends that on envelopes, etc. the post town should be written in capitals. Provided a full postcode is given the name of county may be omitted – see postal counties of the United Kingdom.
