Reaganite/Reaganism

U.S.: Used by opponents of the Republican Party to equate their policies and ways with those of former president Ronald Reagan. The "Great Communicator" had a reputation for obfuscation, toughness, aggressiveness, and a tendency to be politically divisive. His use of hardline tactics to effect the end of the Cold War were also widely criticized by his opponents. His economic policies were also derided as Voodoo Economics by the American left. This term has been appropriated by some American conservatives, who wear the adjective as a badge of honor. See also: Neoliberalism
