Loony Left
A term referring to the far left, principally used by newspapers of the United Kingdom in the 1980s to refer to the Labour Party, especially in local government, accompanying accusations that some Labour-run councils seemed more interested in advancing left-wing positions on sexism, racism and gay rights than on providing services to local residents.
