Bleeding-heart liberal

U.S.: Used by conservatives to refer to liberals, in particular those that stress emotionalism over rationalism, including people liberal on social issues such as the death penalty or the drug war. Conservatives see these people as "soft on crime," thus allegedly enabling crime and causing harm to society.
