Know-Nothing Party

U.S.: Pejorative term for the United States American Party, an 1850s political party that was opposed to the United States Free Soil Party, the United States Whig Party, the Democrats, and the Republicans. When asked about its activities or agenda, members were directed to answer "I know nothing," providing seed for an insulting double entendre.
