Lincoln Home National Historic Site
Lincoln Home National Historic Site preserves President Abraham Lincoln's Springfield, Illinois home and four-block historic district surrounding the home.

The house, found at the corner of Eighth and Jackson Streets, was the first and only home that Lincoln ever owned. It contains twelve rooms spread over two floors. During the time he lived here Lincoln was elected to the House of Representatives, in 1846, and elected as President, 1860.

The area became a National Historic Site in 1972 and is administered by the National Park Service. In total, the buildings included in the park make up 12 acres.
