Ligurian Republic


 

The Ligurian Republic was a short-lived French client republic formed by Napoleon Bonaparte on June 14, 1797. It consisted of the territory of the old Republic of Genoa which covered most of the Ligurian region of Northwest Italy. In June 1805, the area was directly annexed by France. The republic was briefly restored from April 28 to July 28 of 1814.
