Lien Chan
Lien Chan (連戰, in pinyin: Lián Zhàn) (born August 27, 1936, in Xi'an) is a Taiwanese politician. He was Vice President of the Republic of China from 1996 to 2000, and was the Chairman of the Kuomintang from 2000 to 2005. In August 2005, he left that post after not running for re-election (in the first direct KMT chairman election in the party's history) and was succeeded by Ma Ying-jeou.
