Leuven is the capital town of the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The actual town comprises the historical city of Leuven and the adjecent villages of Heverlee, Kessel-Lo, a part of Korbeek-Lo, Wilsele and Wijgmaal. On the 1st of January, 2005 Leuven had a total population of 89,910 (44,331 males and 45,579 females). The total area amounts 56.63 km?, corresponding with a population density of 1,587.67 inhabitants per km².
