Leuchars

Leuchars is situated in the north east Fife, Scotland, six miles (9.5 km) north west from the university town of St Andrews and bordering with the village of Guardbridge. The town holds a Royal Air Force base, RAF Leuchars established in 1920. The train station, by which the town achieved prosperity along with the drainage of the surrounding area in the 18th century, is frequented by many students throughout the year due to its proximity to the University of St Andrews. The railway that ran to St Andrews itself has been closed since the late 1960's, meaning that Leuchars is the closest destination via train.
