Leslie Kong
Leslie Kong (1933?August 9, 1971) ran the Beverley's label. He is also credited with catapulting Toots and the Maytals to reggae stardom. Among others Kong produced The Wailers. Desmond Dekker's 1967 smash "007 (Shanty Town)", gave Kong one of reggae's first global hits. Kong makes a cameo appearance in the film The Harder They Come, where he is seen overseeing a recording session with Toots and the Maytals. He died of a heart attack in 1971.
