Leonor of Portugal (1434-1467)
Leonor of Portugal (English: Eleanor), was a Princess of Portugal, daughter of King Edward of Portugal and his wife Leonor of Aragon. Leonor was born in Torres Vedras on September 18 1434.

In 1451 she married Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor and became Empress and her dowry helped him to alleviate his financial problems.

With Frederick III she had four children:

- Cristopher, Archduke of Austria (1454-1455)
- Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor (1459-1519)
- Helen, Archduchess of Austria (1460-1461)
- Cunigund of Austria (1465-1520), married Albert IV, Duke of Bavaria
- John, Archduke of Austria (1466-1467)
It is in Empress Leonor that the Portuguese line of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor resides.

Leonor died in Neustadt on September 3 1467, and is buried in the same city in the Monastery of the Order of Cister. Her tombstone in the Neukloster of Wiener Neustadt is shown below:
