Leonard Garment

Leonard Garment was acting special counsel to U.S. President Richard Nixon for the last two years of his presidency. He was sometimes mentioned as a possible candidate for having been Deep Throat, but this was proven to be false with the May 31, 2005 admission that W. Mark Felt, who had been the deputy director of the FBI, had in fact been the legendary Watergate source.

He also was the author of the 2000 book In Search of Deep Throat: The Greatest Political Mystery of Our Time, which supported the theory that Deep Throat was John Sears.
